PPA is Suing ORES to Protect Our Rights

Dear Friends of the PPA,

As you may know, NYS has given Terra-Gen a draft permit that allows them to maximize their profits by using inadequate setbacks. Noise will be a problem, and there will be the threat of blades or ice flying off onto neighboring properties and possibly into the roads. The flicker effect caused by the sun shining through the turning blades will force neighbors to cover their windows with blackout curtains. Land values will plummet, and some residents closest to the turbines may be unable to sell their homes.

For these and many other reasons, the PPA filed a lawsuit last month arguing that the loopholes in the application allowing inadequate setbacks are arbitrary and capricious. We are asking NYS to deny final approval of the application. Our goal is to do everything possible so that this project does not ruin our quality of life.

Legal action is expensive.  With community support, we can continue trying to convince NYS that the conditions of the application are unfair to us. You can help, either with a donation or by volunteering to call your neighbors and let them know about the situation.

There are two ways to donate. You can make out a check to the Prattsburgh Preservation Alliance and send it to PPA, PO Box 33, Prattsburgh 14873. If you'd rather donate online, go to the PPA website at prattsburghvoice.com and follow the instructions you'll find there. If you still need help or would like to volunteer to make calls, feel free to give Betsy a call at 585-683-7521.

Thank you for your time. Any support you choose to give is much appreciated by everyone who cares about preserving Prattsburgh for future generations.

In Gratitude,
The Board and Officers
